Students learned the SLIME acronym as a way to find and support the theme of a text. We then discussed it as a class. tHEME: lESSON 2Students continued practicing identifying theme by completing Reflection 13 in their journals. They were given a summary box and a SLIME chart to glue into their journals (see quick write page for actual prompt) Students then watched the video, "Christian the Lion" and based off of its contents, completed R13 As a class, we discussed theme topics, by looking at the a list of the 75 most common theme topics, students picked from the list, topics that fit with the video. Putting it ALTOGETHER:Once students completed their summary and chart for the video, they put all the information together in paragraph form on the back of R13.
